Baby Monitors are essential when having children. You’ll always want to be able to respond to anything you might hear over the baby monitor before something bad can happen. Many new parents will usually choose a cheap baby monitor and regret it later. There are so many baby monitors on the market it’s really hard to decide which one will be right for you. Here’s a couple of things you’ll want to consider when you start shopping for a baby monitor.

Mobility: You want mobility with your baby monitor. The best choice for this is to go with a cordless baby monitor. Most of the really cheap ones for like twenty bucks will not be a cordless and you’ll have to always have it plugged in. This can be a pain if you plan on running over to a neighbor’s house when the baby goes down to sleep. There’s nothing like having to hurry up and unplug while you’re scrambling to run back over to the house if you stepped outside.

Clarity: With most of the cheap baby monitors there’s definitely lots of static. You might also pickup on a neighbor’s baby monitor which can be confusing at times. There’s nothing like mistaking somebody else’s kid for your own and barging into your child’s room only to find that your baby monitor picked up on the neighbor’s baby. It can also be quite embarrassing that your neighbor’s can pickup on any personal conversation you’ve had that you had thought stayed only between your own walls. So when you’ll most likely want a baby monitor that doesn’t carry this problem.

Functionality: There are lots of baby monitors that carry a visual display on them to alert your visually if it picks up a noise. This can be great if you’re sitting across the room and happen to look up but not hear anything because your baby monitor is set to low. Many of these units have a little LED light display that will illuminate to various levels depending on the sound decibels picked up in the room. There are also a few baby monitors that have a vibrate function as well to alert you. So if you’re having a loud conversation and have the monitor clipped to you there’s a good chance you’ll feel the vibrations just like a cell phone.

Video Baby Monitors: If you really want to make sure your child is safe and snug what’s better than actually visually seeing them and hearing them in bed? This will give you the most security as any parent would like. The cost is slightly more but may be worth it to you. The video baby monitors tend to have the best of the best of everything. So everything on the list above will already be integrated with this unit. You will not have any issues at all and for the most part really enjoy being able to see your bundle of joy on demand.

The good baby monitors also have the ability to do two way communication. You’ll be able to channel to try and sooth baby by speaking back to them without actually going into the room. For some this works really well. Most of the higher end monitors have this feature standard.
